Quarry Bay is situated in the eastern shore of Hong Kong Island. It was originally a bay where quarried rocks were transported by sea, but the bay has been filled by land reclamation.
Many developments are owned by Swire. There are many large estates including: Kornhill, Floridian, The Orchards and Taikoo Shing. The many towers of Taikoo Shing have been built directly on top of the Cityplaza complex, which is a shopping mall hosting retail stores, restaurants and an ice skating rink. Residents can make use of the Quarry Bay MTR station that connects to both the Island Line and the Tseung Kwan O Line. The area is well served by public transport routes including bus services (Bus No. 2, 2A, 529, 606, 720, 722, 77, 81, 82, 85, 99, 102, 106, 110 & 802. Minibuses include: 18, 32, 32A & 33), and a tram route to Kennedy Town and Shau Kee Wan. Highlights: –The Quarry Bay Park contains tennis courts, football park, basketball pitch, cycling track, Tai Chi garden, children’s playground and seafront promenade. In addition, there is a sports centre and a public library. - Tong Chong Street is now home to lots of new restaurants and on some Sundays there is a lively Farmers’ Market.
